About Tailor Point Styling
Hi, I’m Lynly (she/her), the founder of Tailor Point Styling.
I am a Washington, DC-based personal stylist with a background in costume design for theatre and opera. I started this business because having a wardrobe of clothes that fit your personality, body type, lifestyle, and budget is something that should be available to everyone. Helping people up their clothes game in order to feel like their authentic selves is what I love to do.
Tailor Point Styling offers signature styling services that get to the root of who you are and how to best present yourself to the world.
I built this company on four basic beliefs about how styling services can and should work:
1. You don’t have to be rich, powerful, or famous in order to justify getting help with dressing yourself. Tailor Point Styling is here to help people when they look around and realize their wardrobe has not kept up with the rest of their life. Are you wearing clothes that you used to love, or at least like, that aren’t serving you anymore? Let me dress you for what’s next!
2. Shopping, Styling, and Alteration Services should be gender inclusive. Personal Styling Services are often focused towards women, but we all wear clothes and want to feel our best. I want to adjust and customize our services based on your personal style journey, not on what section of a store you shop in. Tailor Point Styling will never charge you differently for a service based on your gender.
3. The way clothes fit is more important than how much clothes cost. This is why I offer alterations as a key part of all of my styling services. Finding a tailor and going to get your clothes altered can feel intimidating. I guide my clients through having their new wardrobe altered. It is a critical final step in realizing the best version of your personal style.
4. Finding your style is more of an art than a science and is a process that will continue to evolve. I want to create an environment where you feel listened to and free to explore along with me to discover outfits that speak to you. This means that you and I will both do work to discover what feels right for you. In this way, I like to think about how being a personal stylist is similar to being a personal trainer. I am not here to do all of the heavy lifting for you, but rather I am here to guide you, help you, and create a space where you can learn and grow. I want my clients to feel comfortable to explore and experiment in a safe environment where not everything you try on will be perfect, but even clothes that don’t work for you can lead to a better understanding of how to dress yourself.
